Begleitet werden die Fotografien von Engadiner Sprichwörtern und Weisheiten, verfasst in Giovanolis Muttersprache Rumauntsch und ins Englische übersetzt. Ohne feste Reihenfolge oder Kapitel konzipiert, lädt Dachesa als Coffeetable-Buch zum freien Blättern ein – eine Einladung zum Verweilen, Innehalten und Sich-Verlieren in alpinem Licht, Seen und Graten.

Dachesa is the first photo book by Swiss photographer Gian Giovanoli – a personal homage to the Upper Engadin and the Bregaglia Valley, the homeland of his ancestors.

Featuring more than 250 black-and-white landscapes, the book spans nearly two decades of his life as a landscape photographer. Iconic mountain vistas sit alongside hidden corners and quiet perspectives, capturing the timeless beauty of one of the world’s most enchanting high valleys.

The photographs are accompanied by Engadin proverbs and words of wisdom, written in Giovanoli’s mother tongue Rumauntsch and translated into English. With no fixed order or chapters, Dachesa is designed as a coffee table book to browse freely – an invitation to pause, linger, and lose yourself in alpine light, lakes, and ridgelines.

The first edition is limited to 2,000 copies. With its generous format of 30 × 40 cm and a weight of 4.3 kg, it is both a collector’s item and a statement piece.
